greetings all, my great grandfather Robert Molyneux (who I knew very well personally) was a founder of Dickson & Molyneux, they manufactured bodies for imported Packard chassis in in the Sydney suburb of Bexley during the 1930s.
"In 1932, William Diskon had joined with his friend, Robert Molyneux, to form their own motor body building firm, Diskon & Molyneux at 2 Broad Street, Bexley. Advertisements in 'The Sydney Morning Herald' from 1932 indicate that they undertook body work on the American-made Packard chassis including sedans, saloons and touring cars. They employed leather and canvas upholsterers, machinists, solderers and finishers. By 1933 they had also built the bodywork for a Sunbeam car which was exhibited at the Royal Easter Show.
Diskon & Molyneuz became a limited company in 1936 and their articles of association noted that the firm would be 'carrying on the business of manufacturers of, or dealers in, motor cars, motor cycles, aeroplanes, railway cars or carriages and omnibuses or vehicles appropriate for the carriage of passengers or goods.'
The firm was in business during the 1930s and during the Second World War had to move over to war time production. Their motor body work never resumed after the War ended in 1945." (quote from powerhouse museum)
I am wondering (hoping) some one here might have some info or even better pics or even more amazingly links to an actual car made by them. A sunbeam perhaps? thanks katrina

Hi Katrina,
Thanks for posting this info, great history.
But sorry I don't know any more than what you've posted here so can't help in that regard. However I will endeavour to spread word of your search to our members, one or some of whom may know more.
I'm Mal Harris, the Secretary of PACA. And I would be interested in learning more about your great grandfather and his body building company. Reason being, to draft an article for inclusion in our clubs bi-monthly magazine so our members can share in more Packard history specific to Australia. If you would be interested in helping me with information and photos so an article can be drafted could you please contact me? Mob 0423 171 170.
EDIT - Just thinking, have you tried the Royal Agricultural Society for pictures of the Sunbeam when it was exhibited at the Royal Easter Show? Probably a longshot, but worth a try.

I have been rebuilding the remains of a 1932? Singer Junior. D & M bodybuilders built a number of these. I have collected quite a lot of information of these cars including sales brochures (copies) & some early photographs. Could someone put me in contact with Katrina.
